The Master of Global History offers a program in which students learn to reconstruct the history of global entanglements and global processes, mainly in the modern world but with reference to their genesis in earlier eras. The key feature of the program is that it is based on close cooperation between History and the area studies. The idea is not to simply convey a macro-perspective on global change. Rather, students are encouraged to acquire in-depth knowledge about the culture and society of a single region, and will learn to situate that region's history – through comparisons, and through a focus on interactions and exchange – in the context of global structures and transformations.
